Hello Everyone!
I hope all of you enjoyed a great Thanksgiving with family and friends filled with laughter and love. I had terrific deep fried holiday with my brother and family in Marin Country, and spent a lot of time remembering how much I have to grateful for. Most of all, I give thanks to the amazing fans of Leviathan
But sometimes just giving thanks isn’t enough. Sometimes saying thank you with real action is what moves the needle. So as a way to express my deep appreciation for the love, patience and support that all of you have given me, I am releasing all of our Special Edition Episodes into The Leviathan Chronicles podcast feed. These are all 1-2 hour episodes for which we typically charge $2.99 on the Leviathan website. But for the remainder of the year, I want them to be free for all of you that have been so understanding as I work towards re-launching Leviathan in the late Spring with new content, new website and some exciting new developments. Because I know how many people have paid for these episodes, I know that the vast majority of our listenership have not heard these extra long episodes that I think represent some of our best work yet. This content drop represents about 7 hours of audio that most of you haven’t heard yet. The Special Edition episodes were designed to be “stand alone” but feature all of the characters you love, as well as some new faces. I’m very excited to share these with a larger audience. These five episodes are:
The Ward
This is the origin story for the relationship between Harlequinn and his young ward Lisette Mainsibles. Set in Paris, Harlequinn must balance his conflicted feelings of paternal love that he feels for an orphaned young girl caught in an abusive life of crime, with the secrets he must cling to in order to protect his immortal identity.
Snipe
Written and starring Nobi Nakanishi, Snipe is a Darkwater story of the dangerous AI Virus that has infected the central mainframe of Leviathan that threatens to destroy the city and the all of the immortals within it.
The Rogue Plague
This massive episode is the story of how Evangeline first met Harlequinn and explains their complicated past as well as the animosity between Harlequinn and Bennu. It also features the origin story of Angus McKay!
The Dramatist
Set in the mid 20th Century America, at the twilight of the Radio Age, one immortal must cope with the challenges that modern technology brings to the immortal world as well as the growing rift between the Edeners and those that want to rebel from Leviathan.
Internal Affairs
This is the origin story of Blackdoor Agent Celeste Harris whose top secret job is to police the other 19 “Doors” that comprise the Blackdoor Group. This action filled episode reveals the ultimate fate of the USS Dakota submarine and how the monstrous Enforcers are created. I’ll be honest, this is my all time favorite episode that represents some of our best audio work yet.
To be clear, these episodes will go back behind a paywall once we re-launch Leviathan in 2018. In order to continue to produce Leviathan and the other audio drama projects that are in the works, my team and I have to create a balance between paid and free content. I’m hoping some of the new advances in mobile payment technology will allow us to create a viable business model to create some of the best audio dramas anyone has ever heard. But we have a fair amount of work and re-tooling to get there. Currently, Nobi and I are finishing our next Special Edition episode called The Code which is Jason Sterling’s origin story as well as completing the remaining episodes of Season 2. In addition, I’ll be working on updating our website and coordinating with some e-commerce folks to make it easier than ever to pay for content you like, as well as set up a Patreon page to help support us over the long term.
But for now, let’s enjoy the Holiday Season. I hope these Special Edition episodes will give you all some joy and escape as you take long drives to see family or wait in line to buy presents for loved ones. Thank you all so much for the support you’ve given Leviathan, and the compassion many of you have offered me personally since the death of my wife last year. I read all of your emails and messages (sorry I can’t respond to all of them but try to answer most) and deeply appreciate the enthusiasm and encouragement that you all have given me for so long. I really hope you enjoy these Special Edition episodes, and have a fantastic holiday season.
Drink one for me. Love you all. More updates soon!
Christof
